Who is the best tutor for you? (Hint … It’s probably not us)
Hi Everyone,
Each year ILS meet with 100s of customers with respect to helping their teenagers improve their revision strategies as well as matching students up with relatable subject specific tutors. People often ask us who are some of the best other tutors in the Borehamwood local areas and online.
We’re never ones to shy away from being blatantly honest with respect to competition, and we want our customers to be as informed as possible.
Here is a list of the best tutors/revision coaches in the Borehamwood local areas and online:
1) MyTutor – MyTutor are one of the most respected and used players in the industry. Their prices depend on experience and ‘reviews’ rather than age, ranging between £20 and £51 which includes a service fee for processing each lesson (much like every other tutoring agency). They are also used in over 600 schools.
MyTutor might be a great option for someone who wants the most reputable, online service, opting to avoid the faff of looking for a specific match based on personality. MyTutor’s tutors typically have a younger age range which is great if you prioritise relatability over experience.
2) Tutorful – Tutorful are similar to MyTutor in that they are a large and established tutoring agency. Their reputability is unquestioned due to their large number of reviews. Unlike MyTutor, Tutorful offer local in person as well as online sessions. Tutorful seem to have a older tutor database (in terms of age) and their prices tend to be in the £25-50 range depending on experience. Tutorful offer a 1st session guarantee which states that they will pay for you to have a first session with a different tutor if your first tutor was not perfect.
Tutorful might be a great option for someone who wants the reputability and safety (in terms of vetting) of a large tutoring agency but also want the option of having sessions in person. Furthermore, their range of tutors seem to be more experienced which is great if you prioritise qualifications/experience over relatability.
3) Titanium Tutors – Titanium Tutors are another tutoring agency (with the safety and reputability benefits) however, unlike the above two services they offer a much wider range of subjects. They have tutors who work online and in person (depending on your geographical location) much like Tutorful. They have 5 pricing bands ranging from £30 an hour all the way to £96 an hour. The first two bands, £30 and £42 relate to tutors who are still studying their undergraduate degree and graduates respectively whilst the other three ascending bands relate more to the amount of experience a tutor has in terms of hours.
Titanium Tutors might be a great fit if you want to study a niche subject or if you want a vastly experienced (in terms of hours taught and qualifications) tutor and are happy to pay a premium price point (£60,78,96 for the top three pricing bands).
4) CW Tutoring – Finally, I am going to recommend CW Tutoring. They are a much smaller and thus more personalised company run by Claire Wilsher who is a qualified Science teacher. I am not paid or incentivised to promote Claire or CW Tutoring. However, I have met with Claire and I am convinced that she is committed to redressing educational disparity by providing effective and affordable science tuition. Claire offers a package which entitles clients to regular online group sessions conducted by her as well as 1 on 1 discussions with herself to ensure that the programme works for you.
CW Tutoring might be right for you if you are looking for a more personalised approach whilst being happy to join a online group specifically more science support.
